More than energy
Since competitive energy markets emerged in Europe in the late 1990’s, RWE Trading has become a driving force behind energy trading.
Success in the dynamic and complex energy trading business would not be possible without professionals from a wide variety of disciplines.
From risk management procedures to the impact of weather conditions on energy supply and demand. RWE traders not only deal with commodities
such as power, gas, coal and oil, we also actively trade physical and financial derivatives.
RWE Trading is central to physical and derivative energy wholesale market transactions, and as the face of the RWE Group in national and international wholesale markets, we cover all energy commodities, as well as environmental products like emission certificates. We handle complex trading deals alongside the commercial optimisation of the assets of the whole RWE Group. By combining asset trades with speculative trades we actively hedge risks, ensuring better planning and investment decisions for the RWE group. The 700 strong team at RWE Trading form the trading hub for the RWE Group, an organisation with over 80,000 employees worldwide. RWE Trading maintains three trading floors, the largest of these Swindon in the UK, plus London and Essen in Germany.
What makes us different?
At RWE Trading we incorporate the strength and skills of a typical investment bank with the specialist knowledge needed to operate in emergent energy markets. When it comes to energy trading, every day is different, but our belief that the demands of the wholesale market are best met by powerful flexible teams remains constant.
Clearly, our major focus is on Europe; however, energy markets form an integral part of the world economy and are global in nature. So when things happen on the markets in New York, Dubai or Singapore, RWE Trading is ready, actively trading on the NYMEX and on global commodity markets.
