Ravi joined our Public Sector Audit & Consultancy team after graduating with a 2.i in Economics.

“I chose to pursue a career in Chartered Accountancy as it allowed me to gain a qualification which would allow me access to unlimited opportunities in the financial world.  I felt it was important to choose the right firm to train with as, upon qualification, it would be practical experience and training that would distinguish me from other qualified accountants.

The assessment day

The assessment day played a significant part in my decision as to which firm to train with. Emphasis was placed on learning about the firm and, in particular, the day being a ‘two-way’ process made it informative and left a good impression. Everyone was approachable and encouraged questions and, at the end of the day, I was taken for lunch by current trainees which gave a further insight into day-to-day college and working life. 

Exam training

Time at college has involved hard work and determination. Pursuing a professional qualification requires dedication but the rewards will definitely be worth the hard work.  Although a degree in a numerate subject may be slightly advantageous all material is taught assuming no prior knowledge. 

The work environment

The Public Sector team audits Government bodies and also completes work for the European Commission. Working in this team has given me an understanding of how Government bodies work and I have been privileged to work with high-profile clients. 

Moore Stephens offers many opportunities to pursue activities outside working hours - in addition to the annual dinner dance at a top London hotel there are departmental parties to celebrate the end of the audit ‘busy season’, sporting activities and regular informal events with colleagues.”
