Association of Corporate Treasurers – graduate experiences 2

Tom BollenName: Tom Bollen
Position: Assistant Vice President - Liquidity Management
University attended: University of Sussex
Degree obtained: Mathematics and European Studies (Italian)

As a corporate banker, Tom wanted to gain a greater understanding of banking, especially in those areas of finance he did not usually work in. Tom’s experience highlights a growing trend of banking professionals using the AMCT Diploma in Treasury to enhance their business knowledge and professional standing.

Why AMCT?

I studied the AMCT Diploma in Treasury because I was keen to understand the theory behind the practical aspects of my job. I had worked in banking for five years, but my knowledge was specialised to a few areas. AMCT gave me the opportunity to improve my understanding of fields outside my normal work environment.

Understanding the bigger picture

AMCT has increased my understanding of the bigger picture of finance and given me greater confidence when dealing with senior management. By broadening my financial understanding, I have become involved in higher-profile projects which have led to greater recognition and an offer of a place on the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) training programme in New York.

Standing out from the crowd

Professional qualifications are particularly important when working in finance, as it is a fiercely competitive field. Qualifications such as AMCT demonstrate that you have the relevant skills and help differentiate you from your peers. They are a quantifiable achievement and a guarantee of your expertise now and for the future.
