From the first days in 1951 when Dr E W H Gifford, OBE set up his private practice, to the introduction of post-tensioned concrete, wind farms and development of applications for Fibre Reinforced Plastics, Gifford has a strong background of invention and innovation, and translating these ideas into commercial reality.

What we do

Lewisham Hospital, Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands, the Heathrow Terminal Five Spur Road, Frewyn Library in Portsmouth and Fulham Palace all have Gifford expertise in common.

We deliver services across a broad range of disciplines, organised into three Centres of Excellence – Buildings, Civil Engineering and Environment Development Planning.  Within these Centres of Excellence key disciplines are championed by experts in their fields. The depth of knowledge of these experts and the teams they lead provide Gifford clients with the quality of thinking needed to meet their objectives.

Placement opportunities

At Gifford we are committed to investing in the engineers of the future.

You may just have started your studies, be part way through, or nearing your final exams. Whatever stage you’re at, we offer a range of opportunities for you to gain practical work experience in your chosen field.  Our work placements vary in duration from a few weeks to six months or more, and are available throughout the UK and in a range of disciplines. All our students get an opportunity to work on real projects and get a taste of what it is like working alongside experts in their field.
