As a graduate at Norwich Union, you never outgrow your environment. We’re part of the Aviva Group, the sixth largest insurance business in the world. The Group has 30 million customers, and over 54,000 people across the world, pursuing careers across a range of diverse companies.
Don’t outgrow your environment
As a Group, we’re famous for being one of Europe’s biggest providers of life and pensions products. Long-term savings, fund-management and general insurance are our main activities. We aim to give people the chance to grow and develop in the direction they choose.
We don’t hem people in. We don’t dictate rigid career paths. Instead, we allow people to diversify, evolving their career choices, until they find the part of their business area that’s just right for them. Above all, we support everyone to move upwards – fast.
Who do we take on?
How many graduates does Norwich Union take on every year? Up to 50.
And the main areas of recruitment? Well, we currently have graduates working in Actuarial, Business Management Customer Experience, Finance/Chartered Accountancy, IT, HR, Marketing, Pricing and Underwriting. Most opportunities are in our Norwich and York offices but assignments may be throughout the UK.
What will we expect from you? Well, firstly you must have a 2:1 level degree. (You can find out exact details on our website www.norwichuniongrads.jobs) We look for people who can think strategically and have the determination and persuasive powers to put their ideas into action.
What do we give you?
A minimum of £22k, and great benefits, for starters. (A sample menu of the goodies you’ll get includes a sign-on bonus of £1,500 added to your first month’s salary, a very generous 29 days’ holiday, excellent benefits to include annual performance related bonuses and discounts on our products).
Above and beyond that, we give you the chance to influence our business at every level, whichever area of Norwich Union you join. We have no preconceived ideas of how your career should develop. In fact, we’re not keen on preconceived ideas full stop. We thrive on constantly challenging the status quo, and we like people who do the same.
Our Graduate Development Programme will help you make the most of all that is offered to you. It starts with a comprehensive induction, followed by opportunities that will help you develop your managerial skills. If appropriate, we will also help and support you on your way to gaining professional qualifications. You can then look forward to a thorough technical grounding in your chosen business area. You’ll take up a range of placements that will increase your knowledge of our company and provide you with links across it. Your involvement in structured networking groups will strengthen this further, as will the support you gain from your mentor and your graduate buddy. All this means that, as your development programme nears its end, we’ll be able to find the right permanent role for you.
