Training
Capgemini’s graduate schemes offer confident, bright, articulate graduates the opportunity to work collaboratively to achieve challenging objectives. You will be given the opportunity to work with the business, developing up to the minute knowledge, advanced new skills and outstanding experience which will be supported through both structured group and individual development plans.
On joining Capgemini you will attend a structured induction programme, which will not only provide you general information and details about the organisation, it will give you an insight from the business and current graduates as to the roles and projects they are involved in.
Having completed the induction programme, you are then assigned a mentor from the business. This will be a consultant who will work with you to formulate your personal development plan. Within this plan you will highlight the business objectives to be completed within the first 12 months, and also identify areas for personal development - your own personal short, medium and longer term goals. These will be set each year of the 2-year programme and will be reviewed on a quarterly basis to ensure your continuing development.
As part of the graduate schemes we enrol you on to a specific training course within the first year. For Management Consulting, graduates attend the Consulting Skills Workshop, a week long course that all management consultants across the globe attend when joining the company. For Technology all graduates are enrolled on our accredited Software Engineering Course, aimed in ensuring all graduates are trained to the same level. Both these courses are usually held in Les Fontaines, our university based outside Paris. This venue also provides the opportunity to start building your network with other consultants who are based in any one of the 30 countries we operate in.
Once out with the business you will be assigned to a client project, usually based at their site. This means you will join a team of established consultants who work with the client in partnership to ensure that their business need is met. You will therefore be set weekly and monthly objectives by your project manager which will be reviewed. Strengths and areas for development will be highlighted and we ask individuals to respond to these by enrolling on the relevant internal / external courses for their skills need. For example Presentation skills, collaborative working and managing difficult situations. We also run several CBT courses.
Although we do not have formal rotations it is likely that you will spend approximately 4-6 months on a client project before moving to a new assignment. This will ensure you have a full understanding of our business and at the end of your first 18 months, you should know which area of Consulting you favour. We then ask you to get more involved in their projects for your final months before normally making a smooth transition to this business unit at the end of the 2 years training.
Finally, should an individual wish to sit for further formal qualifications, Capgemini are happy to support this subject to building a suitable business case for further study. Examples of such study could include: MBA, DBA, PhD,CIMA, and other formal certifications such as MS, Cisco, ISEB & ITEL.
