GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LAW (GDL)
(full-time, part-time and distance learning - Leeds, London (Holborn and Waterloo) and Manchester)

BPP's 'Distinctive GDL' is designed to help you make the transition from undergraduate study to the practice of law. Taught using a practical, student-focused approach to learning, the GDL provides an invaluable foundation for practice.

At BPP we provide a one-hour tutorial to every one-hour lecture - the best ratio of any leading provider. Lectures are available in three formats - live in the lecture theatre, on DVD and as audio files for download onto your MP3 player - giving you the freedom to enhance your learning and make use of all options, and to study when is convenient for you.

BPP's GDL is the only programme in the country to feature the optional 'GDL Extra' as well as a Company Law module, giving you the opportunity to specialise early.

Although competition for places at BPP is intense, BPP GDL graduates are guaranteed a place on the LPC and intending barristers can apply to join the BVC.

In addition, you have the opportunity to convert your GDL to an LLB by completing two additional modules via distance learning or a combination of face-to-face and distance learning. The conversion programme can be done during the summer after you finish your GDL and before you commence your LPC or BVC, or you could spread it over more time - up to five years after you complete your GDL.

LEGAL PRACTICE COURSE (LPC)
(full-time and part-time - Leeds, London (Holborn and Waterloo) and Manchester)

BPP's LPC has been designed in close collaboration with leading law firms to prepare you for practice. The LPC at BPP reflects the growing role of lawyers as business advisers, and contains 'MBA-style' training in business and finance using simulated client portfolios and specific client relations sessions.

At BPP we deliver 16 - 18 hours of teaching per week on the full-time programme, taught by experienced solicitors from a variety of practice backgrounds in approximately 75% small group sessions and 25% live lectures. Lectures for compulsory modules are available in three formats - live in the lecture theatre, as audio files for download onto your MP3 player and as audio-visual MP4 files - giving you the freedom to study when convenient for you and to access the recordings for revision purposes.

BPP offers a wide range of electives, ensuring you can study the area of legal practice that interests you.

At BPP, by completing two additional modules you can convert your LPC to an LLM in Professional Legal Practice. The conversion programme is flexible and can be completed full-time during the summer after you finish your LPC and before you commence your training contract, or alternatively you could do it part-time and spread it over more time - up to seven years after you register on the LPC.

BAR VOCATIONAL COURSE (BVC)
(full-time and part-time, Leeds and London (Holborn))

BPP's BVC is highly regarded by the profession and is designed to prepare you for a career at the Bar. Studying the BVC at BPP allows you to concentrate on developing the essential skills of drafting, legal research, opinion writing, advocacy and negotiation. These skills will be refined in groups as small as six students alongside practising barristers, who will sometimes act as your opponents in our realistic mock courtrooms.

At BPP, by completing two additional modules you can convert your BVC to an LLM in Professional Legal Practice. The conversion programme is flexible and can be completed full-time during the summer after you finish your BVC and before you commence your pupillage, or alternatively you could do it part-time and spread it over more time - up to seven years after you register on the BVC.

LLM in Commercial Law and LLM in International Business Law
(full-time and part-time, London (Holborn))

BPP's LLMs are designed to give you a competitive advantage in the specialist areas of commercial or international business law in either the UK or overseas. Both LLMs benefit from BPP's close relationship with major city and international law firms and provide you with an ideal balance between an academically rigorous programme and preparation for the realities of practice.

Taught by experienced practitioners alongside leading academics, our LLMs include a high amount of face-to-face teaching - a one-and-a-half-hour seminar held in each module per week and a one-hour whole group session every fortnight - to ensure full understanding of the subject and to develop concepts further. In addition there is a focus on development of self-study and research.

To enhance your learning we offer a comprehensive speaker programme with talks from eminent academics, practitioners and specialists involved in commercial and international business practice.

The LLMs offer a diverse range of subjects including Advanced Corporate Law, Business Tax Law, Commercial Law, Fraud and Financial Crime, International Banking Law, International Dispute Resolution and Islamic Financial Law.
