The legal practice

The practice has more than 200 partners, over 1,000 fee earners and approximately 2,000 staff worldwide. We bring together a wealth of expertise from our different offices and practice areas to advise on all aspects of cross-border and multijurisdictional transactions and projects.

We offer a full range of business legal services, focusing our research, know-how and expertise on five strategically important areas where the practice and its clients have particular interests: international corporate finance, financial institutions, transportation, energy/infrastructure and technology (including IP and IT).

In all these areas, we work primarily for international corporates and financial institutions on large, complex, cross border transactions, offering them the full range of business legal services.

Industry knowledge

We encourage our lawyers to develop their industry knowledge and expertise through participation in one or more of our international business groups. The industry groups bring together lawyers from across the Norton Rose Group and enable the development and exchange of industry expertise, intelligence and know-how. The practice has industry capability in aviation, communications, media and technology, construction, emerging and transition markets, energy and utilities, food, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, insurance, projects, rail, real estate, shipping, and travel, tourism and leisure.

The training contract

Our training contract is based on an innovative six-seat pattern. Most legal practices operate a seat system in which trainees spend six months in four different departments. Within the Norton Rose Group trainees spend four months in up to six different departments. This is to allow the trainee the widest possible exposure to different areas of our practice in order to equip them to make the best and most informed choice of qualification area. This choice is a major decision that will determine the nature of your working life for the foreseeable future.

Life at Norton Rose Group

Each of our offices supports a number of sporting and social events to help employees to get to know one another in a more relaxed setting outside the office. There are regular social gatherings both for the practice as a whole and within each of our offices. With events such as intra-office football and hockey tournaments, opportunities to socialise within all of our offices are many and varied.
