Who we are

We get to see the full spectrum of finance at the Financial Services Authority (FSA). As the UK’s sole financial services regulator, our remit covers four key areas: to maintain market confidence; to raise public awareness of the financial system; to ensure consumers are protected and to target and reduce financial crime.

In today’s financial climate, a robust regulatory stance is crucial. So whether we’re working with banks, building societies and insurance companies or financial advisers, fund managers, mortgage brokers or intermediaries, we apply the same firm but fair standards. Ultimately, we’re here to give a strong lead to the industry, ensure transparency in the system and maintain London’s status as a world-leading global financial centre.

Our graduates

With such a profound influence over such an important industry, it’s crucial that our people have the potential to develop and the talent to deliver. Our graduate programmes are carefully constructed to give you real responsibility and valuable experience from day one. As well as our generalist programme, we have specialist law, HR, actuarial, economics and management accounting programmes.

After an intensive induction to introduce you to our organisation, our work, aims and your peers, it’s straight down to business. Two placements around the organisation will give you in-depth exposure to our work, from developing and enforcing the policies that supervise the UK’s 30,000 financial services firms to educating consumers.

Your six-month external secondment gives you the chance to view the industry from a different perspective, while a comprehensive range of training modules and professional qualifications will ensure that there are no gaps in your knowledge.

Our rewards

Flexibility and choice are our guiding principles when it comes to benefits. So whether you want to pick your own or stick with our standard package, there’ll be a competitive rewards package with your name on it. The starting salary for graduates is £29,000 – plus you also get a £2,500 joining bonus, as well as further performance-related rewards. The basic package also includes 20 days’ holiday, non-contributory pension scheme, life assurance, private medical insurance, health screening and the ever-handy interest-free season ticket loan.

Our flexible benefits allowance lets you to opt for extra holiday (up to a maximum of 35 days), dental cover, childcare vouchers or travel insurance, or you could simply top up your pension contributions.

What’s more, we’ve created a strong social network, with a variety of sports teams, an on-site gym, and voluntary work, which will add even more to your job satisfaction.

Our requirements

In addition to a 2.1 in any subject, 300 UCAS tariff points and the unrestricted right to work in the UK, you’ll need to be a decisive, results-driven, highly analytical team player with excellent people skills and initiative.
