The Defence Engineering and Science Group (DESG) is a community of 9,000 professional Engineers and Scientists, working within the Ministry of Defence Civil Service, to equip and support the defence of the UK with state of the art technology. The UK needs advanced equipment and technology to protect it’s interests and to contribute to strengthening international peace and security. These aims are increasingly dependent on scientific and technological advances to maintain the ability to operate effectively

Prestigious accredited Graduate Scheme

Our prestigious Graduate Training Scheme is accredited by IMechE, IEE, ICE, RINA, IoP, and RAes and will provide you with a package of work placements and training courses, tailored to your development needs and lasting up to two years. Over and above your salary, the investment in support of your personal professional development will be around £20,000 per year! On successful completion of the Scheme you will be promoted to your first professional post and the opportunities are there for you to achieve Chartered status in around fours years from commencement of the scheme.

Salary from £22,400 p.a. rising to £24,725 on successful completion of the Graduate Scheme

Engineering Degrees must be accredited by the relevant institution. Other similar disciplines may also be considered. These posts are classed as Reserved, so to apply for this Scheme, you must be British or hold dual nationality, one of which must be British.
