Graduate Project Engineer

Qualification: MEng Engineering with Business Finance (Hons) from University College, London.

Since joining Technip and the Graduate Development Programme, I have worked in two separate divisions in the company and worked on several major offshore projects. The majority of my time has been spent in the UK Business Unit which focuses on project management of large scale subsea development projects in the North Sea. I then moved to the Offshore Engineering division which focuses on providing specialist technical solutions to Technip project teams worldwide.

In the UK Business Unit, I worked as part of a team on two major projects involving pipeline installation in the UK North Sea. My role involved completing procedures for offshore work and the procurement of equipment. I was given responsibility from the outset and worked alongside highly experienced Engineers. The experience has been highly educational and rewarding, but the most satisfying part involved going offshore to implement the project and engineering work completed onshore.

The work undertaken in the Offshore Engineering division was similar to project work I had completed at University. It involved using FEA software to analyse and optimise pipeline designs, and I also got to research, plan, conduct and report on an experiment for a developing technology.

I have learned a huge amount in my first year and there is so much more to experience. With the breadth of project management, technical and training opportunities available at Technip, I am confident of meeting my development goals and eventually becoming a chartered and very competent Engineer.
