Graduate Project Engineer

Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from VTU, Bangalore, India and MSc in Marine Engineering from Strathclyde University.

I have been working for Technip for nine months and through its Graduate Development Programme I have already been involved in, and exposed to, a wide variety of work. I have worked in a department which looks at the repair, maintenance and upgrade of our fleet of vessels, which are used for subsea construction and deepwater pipelaying. One of the first projects I was involved in saw me work alongside the team responsible for the classification and certification of a state-of-the-art dive system for one of our new Dive Support Vessels (DSV) ’Skandi Achiever’. However, the highlight of the programme, so far, was being involved in the dry-docking (maintenance programmes) of two of our vessels, which were undertaken in Singapore and the Netherlands.

Technip’s Graduate Development Programme is very flexible and suits my learning needs. I have recently moved to a different division where I will be part of a Project Team and will undertake project engineering tasks associated with the repair and maintenance of subsea assets belonging to oil and gas operators in the UK North Sea.

Technip is an exciting place to work, especially as a new graduate. The opportunity to be engaged in a variety of sports and social activities such as Graduate nights out and football tournaments, as well as having access to subsidised gym memberships, cinema tickets and cheap city breaks makes being part of the Technip Graduate Development Programme all the better!
