About us
Latham & Watkins has more than 2000 lawyers in 27 offices worldwide. Our London office advises on some of the most significant and groundbreaking cross-border transactions in Europe.
What makes us different?
We are proud of the culture, the work and the people at our firm and believe our non-hierarchical management style and “one firm” culture make us unique. Legal Business awarded the firm the much coveted title of "Law Firm of the Decade" in 2007.
There is a genuine spirit of teamwork, respect and shared commitment to equality at Latham and we believe that we can offer you a very different working experience to that offered by the rest of the elite law firms. Every one of our small group of trainees receive bespoke supervision and outstanding support while being encouraged to recognise that they have their own part to play in the growth and success of the firm. Each trainee is given meaningful responsibility from the outset and will have significant legal experience on qualification.
Our work
Latham has strong capabilities in all areas including Corporate, Finance, Project Finance, Litigation and Tax.
Examples of our work include:
- Securing a successful outcome for the Government of Barbados in its long running dispute with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the first ever maritime boundary arbitration between two sovereign States under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
- Advising Nakilat on the largest ship financing ever undertaken with a view to transporting liquefied natural gas to established gas markets throughout the world.
- Advising on the restructuring of the Eurotunnel, a triple award-winning deal
We are also one of the largest providers of free legal services in the world and since 2000, Latham personnel have provided more than $200 million worldwide in pro bono legal services. Organisations we have worked most closely with include READ International and the Kingfisher Kids Club.
Our graduate recruitment opportunities
The firm is dedicated to diversity and equal opportunity and we value originality and creative thinking. Candidates with a strong academic background, excellent communication skills and a consistent record of personal and/or professional achievement will be rewarded with first class training. They will also be given the opportunity to spend one of their four six- month seats in one of our overseas offices.
