In addition, we have leading practitioners in professional disciplinary work; personal injury; public and adminstrative law; public inquiries; human rights; healthcare; employment and equality; environmental law; matrimonial finance and property; professional negligence; costs; and VAT and duties. Members also have successful practices in immigration and asylum; multi-party action; technolgy and construction; and sports law. We have 59 members based in London including 19 silks, and 36 based in our Annexe in Brighton. We also have a team of 13 accredited mediators. Former and current members include Lord Woolf, four Lords Justices of Appeal, and three former Chairmen of the Bar.

Ethos

We are proud of our history, our modern facilities and of our high order advocacy and professional skills, as well as our friendly client-orientated approach. We are fully engaged in the legal community – we run the free Human Rights Update service at www.humanrights.org.uk and support Bar pro bono work and the Free Representation Unit.

Pupillage

We fund two 12-month pupillages at £40,000 each. We also normally take a third-six pupil (also funded). Twelve-month pupils will have at least two supervisors and will be in court regularly in their own right in the second six months. We are looking for candidates with an excellent record of academic achievement with a minimum 2.1 degree (save in exceptional circumstances), a commitment to succeed at the Bar and the ability to relate well to clients and colleagues.
