Corus Training opportunities
All candidates will enter the Graduate Scheme when they start at Corus. Training involves on the job and formal training as well as regular meetings with your manager to assess your performance. Our structured training ensures graduates learn about products, Corus as a whole and the function in which you are based alongside your normal ongoing careers progression. However training will not stop there.
- Diploma/MSc or other advanced external course
Corus has a firm commitment to supporting every graduate in achieving professional accreditation in their chosen function should they wish to do so. If you see a course that you wish to pursue, you can ask for sponsorship. If it has a benefit for the business or furthering your career in Corus, we are likely to help with your request. - International Business Management Competition
Graduates with approximately 2 years experience in the company can join in this in-house business competition. The challenge is designed to aid understanding of how a business operates and the elements needed to make it successful. Each team is made up of 5 members from the same location, competing against teams from other European locations. The competition is judged on a number of decisions made by the team over a period of around 3 months. - Management Skills/Behavioural Skills/Leadership Training
Once you have completed your initial training, you will move into a substantive position. This does not mean that your training stops, rather that you have a formal role within the company. In some cases the substantive position is a continuation of the role that you will do as a graduate, in other cases it is a new job entirely. Graduates within Corus are encouraged to manage their own careers. To facilitate this, training and guidance is offered at regular intervals throughout initial training.
Corus has its own training centre based at Ashorne Hill Management College in Warwickshire. To find out more, visit the web-site - www.ashornehill.co.uk
Corus development opportunities
There are also a variety of courses that you can undertake at Corus at different levels of development:
- Project activity (cross business or Corus - wide)
- Represent Corus at University Recruitment events
- International assignments/projects
- Corporate Social Responsibility activity
In addition to this full support is also given towards a structured Continuous Personal Development Plan. This includes aspects such as 6 monthly performance reviews, challenging jobs/work placements, continuous professional accreditation programmes, and regularly updated personal development plans.
Transition from University life to the world of work can be quite daunting; the graduate programme takes account of this. The programme has the flexibility to accommodate your individual learning needs and will help you to develop your career at your own pace.
