For us, training is an investment, not a cost. We provide a comprehensive range of training and development opportunities for all our graduates, giving you a variety of experience that results in a greater understanding of our business, such as the opportunity to work on-site, rotate between different disciplines, and spend time in different offices across the UK, even the world.
Structure:
How is training structured?
Graduates undertake a structured training programme which typically lasts three years (depending on your specific role).
What does the induction programme involve?
All new Graduates undergo a comprehensive induction programme which includes an on-line induction, an induction presentation by the Regional Director, and a local induction undertaken by your line manager and your ‘buddy’.
What type of on-the-job training do you offer?
We offer a range of on-the-job training including mentoring and shadowing while individual training needs are also identified in your annual and mid-year appraisals.
What kind of mentoring programme do you offer?
Each Graduate is partnered with a mentor who will be an experienced professional to guide you in your role.
Skills development:
What specific skills does training focus on?
Training focuses on a wide range of skills to develop you technically, professionally and personally. The key is that if there is an area that you excel and wish to progress in then we can tailor your development to exploit your talents.
What in-house training facilities do you have?
Our in-house training varies from shadowing, coaching and mentoring to lunchtime seminars and training courses delivered by in-house experts. As part of The Capita Group Plc, we also have access to Capita Learning & Development who deliver training in a wide range of topic areas.
What training opportunities do you offer overseas?
The majority of our work is based in the UK but there are opportunities to travel overseas. We have 40 offices in the UK so there is also plenty of opportunity to move around the country.
Qualifications:
Do you offer training leading to recognised qualifications?
Yes. We support graduates to undertake further education such as Masters degrees and also to achieve recognised qualifications and chartered status with a variety of professional bodies.
Which professional bodies approve the training that you offer?
We have graduates working towards the requirements of over 25 different professional bodies throughout the company. It is not essential to gain recognised qualifications or to become chartered, although it may help you to progress in your career and we encourage those who are interested to do so.
How quickly can I expect to qualify?
It varies but it normally takes around four years. Each Graduate is also partnered with a mentor who will be an experienced professional to guide you in your role and help you along the way to becoming chartered.
Career development:
How is progress monitored?
Your progress will be monitored on an ongoing basis and it will also be reviewed more formally at your annual and mid-year appraisals.
What happens when training finishes?
Training never finishes. Once you have completed your graduate training programme, your line manager will discuss your development with the company to understand where your interests lie and how the company can support you to progress.
