Voted ’Best Trainer 2006 - National and Regional Firm’ by Law Careers.Net and voted law firm with the best training environment at the Trainee Lawyer Awards in 2003 and 2004, we are dedicated to providing our trainee solicitors with the best training throughout their training contract.
We are a single team, working together to support clients and colleagues alike. This effort has been recognised with our highest position in the Financial Times 50 Best Workplaces - ranked 13 - the only law firm to make the list. We also came 39th in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For.
But why not hear what our trainees have to say? Their views ensured we were the number one firm in the 2005 Lex 100 table of the UK’s 100 top law firms. We swept the board, coming top in six out of nine categories, including quality of work and job satisfaction.
Structure
The firm aims to transform trainees into high quality, commercially minded lawyers. You will spend six months in four different practice areas, usually including real estate, corporate and litigation with a chance to specialise in a seat of your choice. From day one you will work on live files with direct contact with clients and other solicitors and be responsible for the management of the transaction and its ultimate billing. The more aptitude you show, the more responsibility you will be given. You will be supported by the graduate recruitment team, a partner who acts as a mentor to you throughout your training contract and a supervisor who will co-ordinate your work and give you weekly feedback.
All trainee solicitors attend an in depth induction which lasts for a couple of weeks when they first join Wragge & Co. The trainees have an opportunity to get to know each other, meet a large number of people from the business, attend finance training, IT training and library training amongst other things.
Trainees are also provided with a further induction when they move to their new seat. The training consists of both on-the-job training and structured technical training provided by partners, directors and associates.
Each trainee undertakes the professional skills course which complements the ’on the job’ learning and it is more than likely that the firm’s commitment to your development will extend well past the number of days recommended by the law society. Some of the courses will be residential, allowing you to reflect on your work practices, forge relationships and compare notes without the disturbances of your daily work.
Our excellent retention rates are the greatest testament to our training programme.
