National grid

Believe:Achieve

National Grid is one of the world’s largest investor-owned energy companies. Operating in a high profile and dynamic industry, we believe in the power of action. We’re committed to being innovative, taking responsibility, and driving initiatives which have a positive impact - on the environment, on people’s lives, and on careers. What you say will be listened to. What you want will be considered. What you do will get noticed. If you believe you can achieve. Opportunity is here. All you need to do is take it.

Energy is a global issue, and we’re a business with global interests. The largest utility business in the UK, and the second largest in the United States, our ambition is to grow even more, and to grow our people in the process.

In the UK, we recruit both engineering and commercial graduates to help drive our business today and into the future. The scale of our activities is huge. We own and maintain the ‘grid’ of towers (pylons) and gas pipelines which carries energy across Britain, and are responsible for all electricity transmission in England and Wales - as well as for Great Britain’s gas transmission in its entirety. We also own and manage four of the country’s eight regional gas distribution networks. Though our work is vital to millions of people and industry, we don’t generate energy or supply it direct. Instead, we transport it, making it available to energy retailers. What we do helps drive Britain’s economic and social well-being – and our range of placements and programmes can help drive your career.

Opportunity is here. All you need to do is take it.

In 2009 we will be appearing at the following universities:

We attend a wide range of careers events across the country. Whether you want to find out more about our Student Placements or Graduate Development Programme, come along, meet some of our people and ask them any questions you want about our business and the opportunities on offer.
