Amish joined Detica in November 2003 from Imperial College, London where he graduated with a MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Management. He has primarily worked in the Public Sector market area and has specialised in information security and business
analysis work.

Why Detica?

Having spent my summers at university working for another consultancy, I knew that consulting was the area I wanted to work in, however I had no strong preference as to whether I wanted to work for a pure technical consultancy or more of a strategy house.

What I did know is that I wanted to find a company where people knew each other enabling business networks to be easily formulated but also wanted a company large enough to have sufficient market clout to win high profile and interesting projects.

The interview left me with the feeling that Detica were indeed the company I was searching for, they had a close culture where everyone seemed to know everyone else whilst also advertising an impressive set of client engagements. Furthermore, they offered me the chance to try a technical consultancy role and a business analyst role, enabling me to follow the career path of my choosing, despite me not knowing the exact path I desired at that stage.

First steps

After a short induction course where I essentially got told the basics of consultancy and my way around Detica systems I was introduced to my Career Counsellor, Simon. Simon was assigned to me on my first day to essentially guide me through my career at Detica by providing advice whenever I needed it.

The projects

What was said at interview about hitting the ground running proved to be no false promise!

In my first 18 months at Detica, I have worked for 3 different clients within my chosen market sector. I’ve been given as much responsibility as I can handle and been given support at every step of the way.

My project work ranges from traditional client advisory type business analyst roles to more specialist information security work, primarily within the Government Business Unit.

The fun stuff

I am currently the social secretary of my business unit of 200+ people. Detica provide me with an annual budget to spend as I like on ensuring we have some great staff social events. This is in addition to team socials for the project team you are a member of which occur far more often than you may imagine!
