Careers with Shell

As one of the world’s leading energy and petrochemical companies, we operate at the cutting edge of many technologies. But technical excellence is only half the story. We have a range of engineering opportunities as well as commercial positions in Finance, IT, HR and Sales & Marketing for graduates and early career professionals.

What will we look for in you?

As well as your academic record, we’ll assess your ability to analyse problems, deliver results and work effectively with others. Respect for other people’s ideas is key to our culture.

Equally, personal development is fundamental to Shell. We’ll provide a tailored mix of on-the-job and structured training and, depending on your role, support in further education.

Where will you fit in?

For our technical roles, we recruit graduates from all relevant engineering and science disciplines, while commercial roles are open to candidates from all disciplines.

Why join Shell?

A win-win partnership – you fulfill your potential; we benefit from your skills.
A supportive culture – help when you need it and responsibility from day one.
A career platform – flexible career paths and a continuous learning culture.
A global business – international teamwork and overseas career possibilities.
A great package – competitive performance-related salary and generous benefits.

Three routes into Shell

There are three alternative routes into Shell for you to choose from. So it’s worth finding out more now, as you’ll be asked to select your preferred route during the early stages of the application process.

To get started, simply complete our online application form, attach your full CV and complete the two Shell questionnaires.

If successful at the interview stage, you’ll gain direct experience of Shell through one of the three routes:

Option A: Shell Recruitment Day

A full day of exercises, presentations and a group discussion – enabling you to find out how well you cope in different business scenarios.

Option B: Gourami Business Challenge

A 5-day business challenge where you will gain an excellent understanding of our global businesses and working culture.  You will work in a project team to develop and strategic business plan for Shell’s operations in the fictional country of Gourami, working through technical and commercial activities.

Option C: Internship

An internship will give you first-hand experience of Shell as an employer and exposure to a range of real-life business projects.

After you’ve joined

Our Onboarding activities for graduates – now standardised globally under the Develop banner – ensure that new recruits enjoy a positive experience right from the start.

The Develop programme offers a range of career development activities, designed to help you maximise your knowledge-base and make a real contribution as soon as possible.
