Organisation
Raleigh is a well established charity committed to providing challenging experiences that develop skills and build confidence, especially in young people. We have over 24 years history of creating memorable expeditions to destinations including Borneo, Costa Rica & Nicaragua, and India.
How can you join Raleigh?
17-24 year olds can join as a venturer, whilst those aged 25+ can apply as volunteer managers to facilitate the expeditions (roles include project managers, mountain leaders, medics, photographers, logistics, finance managers, administrators, communications officers etc.)
Overseas expeditions
A full expedition gives you the opportunity to complete 3 distinct projects: sustainable community and environmental projects, plus an adventure challenge. We work closely with the host country’s government, local and international organisations to ensure all projects directly benefit the lives of each community.
Expedition length
Expeditions run 4 to 10 weeks. Volunteer managers receive training in country and therefore commitment is an additional 2-3 weeks.
Benefits
Join people from all over the world, including those from the host for a true mix of backgrounds, cultures and languages.
You will be living and working alongside local people for a true exchange of cultures, conserving their livelihood and environment, plus taking on an adventure challenge.
Make a genuine difference and realise your full potential. 30,000 people have taken the challenge – get out there!
"Raleigh is a great experience that you probably won’t get to do again, so take time out to think about your life and what you want to do, and learn from the challenges each phase brings." Serena Brown, venturer
“It’s given me confidence and a new set of friends. It’s given me a new range of skills and a taste of what it’s like to live in different situations and cultures.” Lucy Kentish, Medic staff volunteer
