    Hello everybody,

I have applied for different graduate programmes (PWC, Ernst&Young, Mazars) and I will attend to the Assessment centers within the next 2 weeks. But I still have difficulties to determine the salary expectations that I should have as a graduate in these firms. If someone could give me tips... Thank you!!!

    Hi Karine,

Your best bet is probably to check some job sites.
One i usually use for IT related jobs is www.cwjobs.co.uk but there are many others out there specific to the degree you studied.

All you then need to do is scout for similar job roles with similar levels of experience.
This way you have a rough upper and lower band (depending on location), then you can at least see where you stand in comparison to your peers.

    Hope this helps.
    Luke

As a first year auditor in the Big4, you can expect to earn c£20k outside London and c£27k in London. This will go up a couple of £k in second year

Weird.. I'm sure I posted here before but now there's no message! Perhaps someone took something down...

Actually 27k is a little optimistic for BIG starting salaries. All the big four keep quite quiet about their starting graduate pay packets (I think you aren't allowed to tell anyone what you earn if you get a job!) but I know roughly that PWC, E&Y, Deloitte, and KPMG offer between 25k and 27k, with Deloitte towards the top and PWC towards the bottom.

..not that this salary really matters, it's all about what you can earn after 5 years or more and what the training is like. Have a look at this introduction to graduate accounting that could be useful for more info.

Hi there, just to say I also think the £27k estimate is quite high - just going through all this just now, both myself and friends. In London the highest I know of through friends is £24k + training, and outside of London (Edinburgh) £19k + training. Both of these are big four.

Though I have been told by an older friend who did this years ago that for the first 3 years the salary increases are in the region of 20% a year, or jump up every time you pass an exam. So lowish starting but high by the end of it!

    Hope that helps.
