30 years of networking celebrated by City women
Businesswomen gathered together at Merrill Lynch in the City of London last night to celebrate 30 years of City Women's Network.
Chief Executive of the British Bankers' Association, Angela Knight, was the guest speaker at the event and suggested that the current skills gap in the UK could be solved by more female professionals.
This follows warnings from the Chartered Insurance Institute yesterday that the financial services skills crisis is set to worsen this year.
Ms Knight remarked: 'There is real potential for women to be successful in business nowadays and the role and influence of women in the City has increased in the past 30 years since City Women's Network started.'
President of City Women's Network Clare Dobie agreed with Ms Knight's comments, but added that there is still discrimination against women in the workplace.
Although the problem is 'subtler' than in the past, the issue is still prevalent in the difference between male and female pay packets, she said.
