Firms need Non-Executive Directors, report suggests
Businesses are lacking well-trained Non-Executive Directors, one organisation has suggested.
A new report by Deloitte has revealed that firms may find it difficult to fill these roles due to high risks relating to the position and dissatisfaction over the wage structure.
Deloitte Head of Remuneration Carol Arrowsmith said: 'The knowledge and experience of the Non-Executive Directors can be of massive benefit to the company.'
Yet she acknowledged that over 25% felt the processes of the board need re-evaluation and nearly half believed that salaries were 'inappropriate'.
The quality of other board members was also a factor when deciding on whether to take a Non-Executive Director position, with 80% of individuals highlighting it as important.
Approximately one-third of company secretaries replied that it was getting harder to employ people in these roles.
Deloitte is an international risk management and financial advisory firm, which offers undergraduate opportunities through insight days, industrial placements and summer schemes.
