ICT skills means more money, employees told
A proficiency in IT may mean employees see bigger paycheques at the end of the month, a new report has suggested.
Conducted by UK online centres, the Economic Benefits of Digital Inclusion: Building the Evidence report stated that staff members with good ICT skills earn 3% to 10% more than their less technologically able colleagues.
And if schoolchildren are taught via technological and digital tools they will achieve higher GCSE results by a quarter of a grade, the report found.
Paul Murphy, the Minister for Digital Inclusion, called for more training to be given to workers who struggle with ICT.
He said: 'Technology and the internet are now woven into the fabric of our society. However, we cannot ignore the fact that those who are socially excluded are much less likely to have access to and to benefit from technology.'
Meanwhile, Maggie Berry of womenintechnology.co.uk has urged more jobseekers to embrace the variety of opportunities in the technology sector.
