Report provides insight into salary perceptions
A new study has revealed how perceptions of salary within a workplace can affect the wellbeing of employees.
Researchers based at the University of Warwick polled 16,000 workers and found that the level of pay relative to colleagues is of more concern to most than how their pay packet compares to similar jobs elsewhere.
The report, which was published in the Industrial Relations journal, is of particular relevance to those looking for graduate jobs, as the sample surveyed was made up completely of undergraduates. -

Students 'not always aware of financial support opportunities'

Potential university students are largely unaware of the financial backing available to them and harbour a lot of misconceptions about the cost of university, an expert has claimed.
Dr Margaret Noble, Greenwich University's Pro-Vice Chancellor, said that those going into higher education should thoroughly explore their financial options such as accommodation and funding.
Research carried out by the university found that 88% of A-level students were unaware of maintenance grants available. -

Norwich Union: Child's education or pension?
Those parents who put their children through college and university to support their dreams of the perfect graduate job are dipping into their long-term savings to cope with the costs, it has been claimed.
Pensions, credit cards and savings are being raided by 20% of UK parents polled by Norwich Union.
The survey also found that 38% would sacrifice holidays to supplement their children's education funds, while 13% said they would actually consider remortgaging their property.
