Graduate employers still recruiting, says study
Graduate job seekers will be encouraged to learn there are still opportunities in the UK employment market, according to a recent survey.
A joint study by CBI and Harvey Nash showing employment trends for 2009 found that a number of companies intend to continue recruiting university-educated people this year.
The report said: 'Graduates are a vital part of the UK workforce, bringing fresh thinking, analytical skills and new knowledge to businesses.'
According to the figures, five per cent of companies were seeking to increase their graduate recruitment and looked to attract university leavers in new ways, with 16 per cent also supplying work placements or internships.
In particular, public sector institutions, energy and water companies and professional services firms all expected to sustain current recruitment levels throughout the year.
Earlier this month Head of Employment Policy at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Neil Carberry stated that there were a number of vacancies available to university leavers despite difficult economic conditions.
