'More female graduates needed' for engineering jobs
There are plenty of opportunities for women seeking graduate jobs in scientific industries, it has been highlighted.
Chief Executive of the Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics Network, Yvonne Baker, said that there are many 'big employers' that are 'desperate' to employ women because of the different perspective they can bring. -

Marketing graduates 'likely to see recruitment freeze'

The ongoing economic downturn will result in a recruitment freeze which will affect recent marketing graduates, it has been claimed.
Hugh Burkitt, chief executive of the Marketing Society, told Marketing Week a halt in graduate recruitment in the industry was to be expected, e4s.co.uk reports.
He claimed those leaving university in the next two to three years with marketing degrees would be unfortunate. -

Graduates 'turn away' from financial sector
A new survey has found that graduates are abandoning their career searches in finance and opting for safer career routes in the face of the economic crisis.
According to a survey conducted by Reed, a fifth of respondents said they would enter industries such as media and marketing and the creative sector rather than finance at present, Personnel Today reported.
Of the 1,400 graduate respondents, 4% said they would choose a career in finance, 2% said banking and 3% would opt for accountancy career.
