Banter at work increases job satisfaction, study finds
Having a bit of banter at work increases the level of job satisfaction people enjoy, a new study has found.
According to research by People 1st, plumbers and electricians are the best when it comes to having a laugh at work, while only 36 per cent of engineers and telecoms employees partake in workplace banter.
Life coach Pete Cohen said salary, graduate and career progression are key factors, having a conducive atmosphere to work is just as important.
"Several crucial factors combine to stimulate people in the workplace" he claimed, adding: "As well as motivating staff by giving them extra responsibility and providing access to skills training, employers should ensure the workplace is an enjoyable, fun and friendly place."
According to Human Resource Executive Online, jobs that involve caring for other can be just as satisfying as those that offer high salaries and prestige.
