Graduates should 'pursue what they enjoy rather than climb the ladder'
University leavers looking for graduate jobs should not compromise their ambitions in order to get ahead, an advisor has urged.
Speaking about publicity jobs and graduate recruitment in general, Ben Fennell of British advertising firm Bartle Bogle Hegarty offered ten tips for graduates starting out in the world of work.
He told brandrepublic.com that graduates should not change or 'lose their edge', nor should they compete, but instead work with those around them, Mr Fennell said.
Lateness, though a basic issue, should be avoided as it is ' simple business courtesy'.
Also, the Advisor also urged graduates in their new jobs not to worry or rush, as they are in it for the long-run and have plenty of time to ask questions and develop.
In the same vein, Richard Lambert, head of the Confederation of British Industry, said that businesses place a lot of emphasis on graduates that 'leave education with the functional skills to prosper' in the workplace.
