Sunny future beckons for office workers
A new survey has suggested that remote working could make for happier staff.
The BT and Ciao Research poll found that 65% of workers feel depressed if there is no natural light in the office, while 22% of employees only witness 20 minutes of sunshine a day on average.
It therefore recommended that companies allow their staff to work elsewhere by taking advantage of new technologies, such as Wi-Fi internet connections.
Dave Hughes, Director of Wireless Broadband for BT, acknowledged that the notoriously temperamental British weather would have to play along, but said: 'The number of Wi-Fi enabled devices flying off the shelves coupled with widely available hotspots provides the tools to support remote working.'
However, such practices are not necessarily problem free. Recent research from Regus found that more than 75% of Britons have had their personal information breached while in public places, which it put down to the rise in remote working.
