Work/life balance is a struggle, female technologists claim
Creating a good work/life balance in the IT and technology sector is a struggle, a poll of women professionals in the industry has revealed.
According to womenintechnology.co.uk, although 55% of 200 females working in IT and technology that were surveyed by the company stated they had a good mix of work and home life, they noted that it had not been an easy compromise.
A further 77% said that their company offered flexible working schemes, but they were not put into practice often.
Maggie Berry, Director of womenintechnology.co.uk, claimed that many women are put off working in the sector because of this issue.
'The number of women working in IT is dwindling and work/life balance is often cited as a key reason for this,' she remarked.
Ms Berry stated last month that office politics can often be a stumbling block for female professionals working in IT jobs.
