Bosses told to recognise employee IT skills
Employers are not recognising the IT skills of Britain's young workforce, one expert has remarked.
According to database company FileMaker, many young jobseekers - such as graduates - are not only confident in their general IT skills but know how to use them in a business-orientated environment.
However, Tony Speakman, Regional Manager of Northern Europe for FileMaker, noted that bosses are not utilising the skills of their employees.
'Businesses need to wise up and tap into the knowledge and enthusiasm this generation has to offer,' he said.
'This generation has grown up IT savvy and educators have done a good job ensuring that they have the skills to take into the workplace.'
Despite recent findings from the National Computing Centre that the IT skills shortage has intensified, FileMaker revealed that 82% of school leavers are confident in their general IT skills.
