Workers believe smart dress is key to success
Dressing in smart business wear for work is the key to getting ahead in the company, a new survey has suggested.
Conducted by Reed as part of its Employment Survey 2008, the poll revealed that 51% of employees believe dressing smartly can help win promotions.
In fact, 40% wear formal attire such as suits every day, while 47% wear smart/casual business wear on a daily basis. Although 61% of men said they never wear ties.
Lewis Woodward, Head of Network Marketing at Reed, commented that employees seem happy to don formal attire in the workplace.
'The old adage dress for success clearly rings true, with the majority of office workers happily embracing their company's dress code and feeling proud to represent their brand,' he said.
He added that it is 'surprising' that many people think dressing smartly is 'highly relevant' to 'advancing their careers.'
Dressing smartly could be important for graduate jobseekers following recent warnings about increased competition for places on graduate scheme.
