London jobs found to pay £10k more
Workers with jobs in London can expect to earn £10,000 more than employees in other parts of the UK, new research has discovered.
According to figures from AllTheTopBananas.com, the average advertised salary in the capital is £38,998; the average advertised UK salary (not including London) is £28,407.
Dave Martin, the Managing Director of AllTheTopBananas.com, remarked that despite the wage difference, workers may not feel any richer.
'The difference between salaries in London and the rest of the UK may look huge. But with the cost of living being so much higher in the capital, it's unlikely Londoners feel that extra spending power,' he said.
He added that the research has created a 'fascinating picture' of salaries in the UK, with the Confederation of British Industry recently stating that annual pay rises are increasingly being replaced by reward-based systems in the private sector.
Wales came second to London out of all the regions in the UK, with an average advertised salary of £32,030, while the North East was bottom of the salary index.
