Women told temp work could help career choices
Women unsure about what career path they would like to follow should consider temporary work, one expert has said.
According to Anne Fairweather, the Head of Public Policy at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), temping can help jobseekers gain extra skills and decide what profession they may enjoy working for in the future.
Ms Fairweather's comments follow the publication of the Jobs for Girls report by the Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Committee recently.
Suggestions put forward by the study to help narrow the gender pay gap are supported by Ms Fairweather.
'In many cases there is a role for temporary work to provide the ideal starting point for women either entering the job market for the first time, who are returning or who want to find a new role which fits in with their lifestyle,' she remarked.
Despite a report by the REC and KPMG earlier this week indicating a jobs slowdown, Ms Fairweather added that temporary work is also a good idea for those people in search of a career change.
