Graduates are happy with their careers, says expert
Graduates are happy with the jobs they find themselves in after three and a half years, one expert has suggested.
Martin Pennington, a Director at the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services, drew upon recent Higher Education Statistics Agency (Hesa) figures that indicated 86.9 per cent of former students were 'satisfied' or 'very satisfied' with their position.
He noted: 'Practically nine out of ten graduates are saying that they are happy with their careers to date and that is a very positive message to put out about graduate careers in general.' -

MoD signs 15-year maritime contract

An agreement between graduate jobs provider the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and BVT Surface Fleet has been revealed by a government official.
Minister for Defence Equipment and Support Quentin Davies said the 15-year contract - worth approximately £230m a year - will aim to support the shipbuilding industry by preserving valuable skills in the sector.
He remarked: 'This agreement will help BVT to build a world-class, sustainable business, balancing the supply of its services to future MOD demand.' -

Armed forces successfully completes operations, report suggests
Armed forces in the UK are consistently meeting new operational targets, according to a recent report by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
In the document, it outlined that the Army, Royal Air Force and the Navy - all graduate recruiters - are accomplishing military and policy objectives.
While admitting the forces are currently stretched, the annual account stated the number of personnel deployed on missions and tasks has dropped from 19% in the last three months of 2007-08 to 17% in the last quarter of 2008-09.
