Graduate scheme gains momentum
A programme which was launched in the Midlands in 2006 has chosen its latest graduate recruit after seeing a countrywide interest from candidates, it has been announced.
Birmingham Future, which enables graduates to sample the working environments of three different sectors, saw applications from all over the UK this year, the Birmingham Post reported.
The programme will see this year's candidate Mayur Murali spend four months with Deloitte, a further four with management firm LMM and then the last four with VC Consulting.
Chairperson for Birmingham Future's Graduates into Employment Committee Ruth Ward said the scheme was initially aimed at students based in the Midlands.
However, she added now that 'its appeal and popularity has resulted in applications from recent graduates from all over the UK and international students'.
While competition rages for such placements, an expert recently highlighted the lack of university leavers going into the social care sector, saying the industry needs to 'be more innovative in recruiting' when it comes to graduate vacancies.
