Extra IT qualifications could boost wages
Those working in IT have been advised by an expert to consider taking extra qualifications.
Basic certifications in IT could give workers in the industry the chance to boost the amount they earn, Rob Chapman, Chief Executive Officer of Firebrand Training, told the British Computer Society.
As reported by womenintechnology.co.uk, a Firebrand study discovered that while IT degree holders can expect to start on £22,000, those with a PRINCE2 qualification in project management could earn as much as £48,000.
This is a considerable amount, as research from AllTheTopBananas.com found the average advertised salary for jobs outside of London is £28,407.
Other IT qualifications such as Microsoft's MCSE and .NET, and Cisco's CCNA can boost a graduate's salary by £11,000.
The skills shortage 'provides a golden opportunity for graduates,' Mr Chapman stated.
'At the very least, graduates can expect to increase their salary by a third and in some cases more than double it according to the certifications they complete,' he said.
