Calls for IT funding to continue
The British Computer Society (BCS) has called on the government to continue providing funding for people wishing to study IT for second degrees.
According to The Guardian , the government has suggested that it will look to reduce financial support for people studying for qualifications which are either equal to, or below the one they currently hold.
However, the BCS warned that such a move would deter graduates with degrees from taking additional course and increase the shortage of IT skills being experienced by the UK.
Mike Rodd, Head of Learned Society and External Relations at the BCS, said: 'It is absolutely crucial that the supply of IT practitioners continues to try to meet demand as best it can in the current challenging market place.'
Such a strategy would impact upon the UK's competitiveness, he added.
The BCS claims to have more than 60,000 members in over 100 countries.
