IT skills shake up
The assessment of IT proficiency could be soon be part of a shake-up by e-skills, the sector skills council for IT and telecoms, as it aims to help employers evaluate the technological competence of job applicants.
Bosses are being urged by the body to attend meetings taking place around the UK to discuss the computer skills of IT professionals and users.
The organisation is hoping to update the National Standards for IT following the discussions, which could mean changes to the training, development and assessment of technological expertise.
It is hoped that employers would then be able to understand the capabilities of job candidates by simply reading a CV or application. This could affect graduates job hunting in any sector, not just the technology field.
IT is currently a hot topic in the employment arena, with a recent study from Samsung Electronics indicating that employees want access to better IT facilities to enable them to complete their work more efficiently.
