Greene King launches graduate landlord programme
Students are well-known for their love of a pint or two after their studies, so a pilot graduate placement scheme may appeal to many job-seekers after time is called on their university life.
Pub operator Greene King has set up the scheme as a way for potential landlords to whet their appetite for their chosen career, while potentially wetting their whistle as well.
'We want to encourage graduates to see the pub industry as an inspiring and viable career choice,' said Terri Hardy, project manager for industrial placements at Greene King.
'By the age of 25, our graduates could be running an exciting business with a sizeable team, hundreds of loyal customers, and a £1m turnover.'
Two applicants will be chosen to complete a 48-week programme starting this November, which will teach them about the industry, while also allowing them to gain training and qualifications in being a licence holder, managing beer quality and health and safety.
