Maximise your income, students advised
Students at university have been advised to ensure their finances are in a healthy state by maximising their income and trying to cut down on the amount of money they spend.
Johnny Rich, editor of Push.co.uk - an independent guide to UK universities and student life - also said that those who encounter money troubles should seek help as quickly as possible.
'If you do find yourself in difficulty turn to the people who can help, because there are a lot of them, the student's union is among the first people you would turn to,' he commented.
Mr Rich also recommended that undergraduates select the higher education institution that best suits their pocket and research the cost of living expenses, accommodation and travel.
A recent survey by the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills found that almost one-third (32 per cent) of full-time students said the availability of financial support and funding affected their decision to go to university.
