Popular gap-year destinations revealed
Australia and Thailand are two of the most popular gap-year destinations for students, it has been suggested.
According to Celia Pronto, the UK Marketing Director of STA Travel, South America is also very popular with travellers and some more unusual countries are also emerging as fashionable with students.
'Destinations that are increasing in popularity include Panama, Nepal and Argentina,' she stated.
In fact, recent research from STA Travel has revealed a 154% increase in the number of people heading to Panama for a gap year, while a 145% rise in travellers visiting Argentina was also noted by the firm.
Ms Pronto advised gap-year students to ensure they plan their trip thoroughly, doing as much preparation as possible beforehand.
Furthermore, travel insurance is a necessity, she warned.
'Travel insurance is an absolute must for any traveller to ensure they are covered for every eventuality wherever they are in the world,' she remarked.
