Nottingham students break fundraising record
Students from the University of Nottingham have broken their own fundraising record again this year.
The student-led charity Karnival has broken the record it set in 2006 by raising £688,458 during 2007.
Rag Raids and a 7-Legged Bar Crawl were two of the numerous events organised to reach the target.
Alex Chew, the Director of Karnival 2007, commented: 'It has been my pleasure to lead Karnival this year and I am delighted to announce another record-breaking total. I think that all the students who got involved can take a lot of pride from their achievements.'
President of the Students' Union, Gerald Bates, added that although 'students often, unfairly, get a bad name' Karnival is a good example of students' positive work in the community.
The university - which recently opened its new Learning Hub information facility - claims that by getting involved in events such as Karnival activities, students can gain valuable experience in organising major events.
