Holidaymakers warned about new US visa rules
Travel insurance will not cover those who are refused entry into the US, it has been claimed.
The warning, which was made by travel insurance specialist InsureandGo, may be of interest to those planning to embark on a gap year holiday in the country.
Perry Wilson, founder of the company, said travellers need to make sure they have the new visa before flying to the US.
He remarked: 'Unfortunately, your travel insurance won't cover you for abandoning your holiday, if you haven't got a visa ... it is not down to your insurance company to deal with that problem.'
Research by Travelsupermarket.com found that more than half (57 per cent) of those polled were unaware of the new online Visa Waiver Programme.
Meanwhile, nine per cent claimed they had been unable to travel to a country because their passport was due to expire in less than six months.
