Veterinary student launches campaign to save dog
A student from Liverpool studying for a graduate job as a vet has launched a campaign on Facebook to stop a dog from being put down.
Tom Newton started the 'Campaign to save Kai' group on the social networking site, hoping to find a new owner for the three-year-old German Shepherd.
Kai has been in private kennels for seven months but has not been rehoused. He also suffers from an incurable pancreas disease which requires medication and a special diet.
Mr Newton told The Liverpool Echo: 'As a veterinary student, you come across similar situations and it's a fact that animals die or have to be put down on a daily basis.'
He also said that a new owner could look after the animal for as little as £2 a week with a diet supplement.
In other Facebook news, the government has condemned a group on the network listing the names and addresses of police officers and threatening violence against them.
