Finance jobseekers advised to try new industries
Jobseekers in the finance sector may want to consider looking at other industries for suitable employment opportunities, a recruitment expert has advised.
The current economic problems, such as the credit crunch, have impacted upon the finance recruitment sector more than others, Director of External Relations at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), Tom Hadley, said.
He issued a warning to jobseekers, saying: 'We would recommend that you keep an eye out as you might want to look at broader options in terms of jobs, as opposed to limiting yourself to one sector.'
Many employers are still hiring new staff, Mr Hadley noted, despite worries that the jobs market would suffer from the unstable economy.
In fact, he added that the employment arena is only 'slightly more competitive now than it was this time last year.'
According to the Report on Jobs for March by KPMG and the REC, the hospitality industry and retail sector have fared fairly well despite the problems in the economy.
