Graduates told to embrace science and engineering

Graduates should be at the forefront of science and technology, one expert has said.

According to Chief Executive of the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship (NCGE), Ian Robertson, there are a large number of graduates in the technological sector because it is an area of 'new, dynamic businesses.'

However, more graduates are focusing on the creative side of technology, Mr Robertson remarked.

'There is a strong presence of graduates in the creative and design businesses but we need to encourage more science and engineering graduates to be setting up high-impact businesses,' he said.

He added that it was 'understandable' why many graduates are entering this arena as it is 'highly visible.'

In fact, most of the economic growth in the UK is driven by technology, Mr Robertson stated.

This week is National Science and Engineering Week, an event aimed at encouraging more people into the sector.
