Employment index shows positive signs
Online recruitment activity in the UK increased last month, the latest employment index has revealed.
Despite a seasonal dip in activity in January, February recorded a 32-point rise on the Monster Employment Index
Sectors marked as strong performers were healthcare and social work, which saw significant growth, Monster said.
This follows figures from CV Screen earlier this week that showed the IT sector also saw a 17% rise in job applications over the first two months of 2008.
Julian Acquari, the Managing Director of Monster UK, noted that there are positive growth signs for the UK employment market.
'While recruitment has clearly moderated in the financial sector, opportunities in most other industries have continued to expand. The index seems to show a positive outlook for the UK employment market,' he stated.
The index also found that management and consulting was another sector to see strong growth last month.
